John
Humphreys studied sculpture at Cheltenham & Gloucester College and
the Royal Academy Schools.
Since
leaving the Royal Academy in 1980, he has worked in the fields of film
and television to bring the fine arts and special effects together. The
best-known example of his work is the title character Max
Headroom.
More
recently, John has focused solely on the fine arts.
His fiberglass sculpture portrait of Mick Fleetwood appeared in
the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2001.
After
a recent move to an expansive studio space in East London, he is now
able to undertake large sculptures and is currently completing several
commissioned portrait busts.
John
Humphreyss work is both surreal and super-real. His sculptures make
their presence known, challenging the viewers conventional
perceptions of two and three dimensions. Johns work addresses
complicated visual and spatial problems, challenging the transfixed
viewer to distinguish between his own space and that of the sculpture. |
